Obituary:
Obit for Friday: Norwalk Hour, CT Post

Margaret “Peggy” T. Canal, age 81, of Monroe, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully at Griffin Hospital in Derby on Tuesday August 16, 2011 with loving family at her side.
On June 2nd, 1951 she wed the late Humberto J. Canal, Sr. eventually residing in East Norwalk Connecticut where she lived for 32 years. There she raised her children, grandchildren and the “rest of the neighborhood” -- with an open heart and Irish wit.
From sports to pets to rock and roll bands, the Canal house was a neighborhood home to all. She loved to cook and was always ready to set an extra place at the table.
She supported her entire family in each of their personal endeavors and instilled in each of her children, a strong sense of passion and individuality.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Martin and Margaret Hedderman. She is survived by her brother, Robert Hedderman of New York City. She is also survived by her three daughters; Lorraine Pennoyer, Peggy Canal-Wittler and Suzie Canal, her five sons; Michael Canal, Humberto (BJ) Canal Jr., Robert Canal, James Canal, Timothy Canal as well as her twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. We will all miss our “Mimi” dearly.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, August 19th from 4 to 7 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 20th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk. Burial services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be directed to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405.

My deepest sympathy to entire Canal Family. I spent most of childhood and teenage years at the house by the pond. Will always remember the great times I had with your family and I will miss your Mom very much.
