A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk, on Saturday, September 17 at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Obituary:
Anthony “Tony” Bonis of Norwalk died peacefully on September 13, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born in New Canaan July 18, 1917.
Husband of the late Lena Pensiero Bonis, he is predecessed by his brothers, Casmir Bonis, George Bonis, Orain Ready and his sisters Anna Leone and Loretta Sagady. Tony was the son of the late Joseph Bonis and Carmella Digidio Bonis, and is survived by two sisters, Helen Parillo of Westport, CT and Peggy Migliaccio of Preston, CT and three daughters, Carmella Carol Keeler of Florida, Virginia L. Kuti of Norwalk, CT and Toni J. Bartram and husband Thomas of Bethel, CT.
He Leaves behind six grandchildren, Lisa Cray and husband Steve, Tina Hefferan and husband Matt, Michael Keeler and wife Wendy, Terri Rafa and husband Ernie, Allison Faucher, Tracie Kuti and fiance' Glenn Morrell. He also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Tony served as a Sergeant in World War II and received the Asian Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He worked in the construction field for over 30 years and was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid bowler and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He and his wife spent summers at Hidden Acres Campground in Preston, CT where he enjoyed playing bocce with his friends.
