A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk Ct. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, also in Norwalk
Thomas B. Haugh, 80, of Blue Hill Road in Monterey, formerly of Norwalk, CT, died Tuesday April 17, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Norwalk, CT on July 17, 1931, he was the son of John Denis Haugh, DDS and Anne Burke Haugh. He graduated from Fairfield Preparatory School in Fairfield, CT in 1949 and went on to Columbia College where he obtained a BA degree in 1953.
Tom served in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton from 1954-1956 where he earned the rank of Captain.
Following his service in the U.S. Marine Corps he attended the University of Pennsylvania where he received a Masterís degree in Biology.
Tom began his teaching career at Andrew Warde High School and later went on to teach Biology/Chemistry and General Science at Staples High School in Westport CT for the next 31 years, retiring in 1991.
After his retirement, Tom married Maureen Bradley and moved to the Berkshires in 1991. Tom had been an active skier, golfer, reader, hockey player and fan. He really enjoyed the simple things; family, a good book, The New York Times and watching hockey on television.
In addition to his wife, Maureen, Tom is survived by his children Heather Haugh Reynolds and Burke Haugh both of Norwalk, CT, his sister, Barbara of Houston, Texas, his son in law Adam and his two granddaughters, Charlize and Casey. He also leaves Maureen's entire family, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia O'Connell Haugh in 1988 as well as his brother John Haugh, MD of West Hartford Ct.
