Welcome to the memorial page for

Alberta M. (Maifeld) Kealey

February 23, 2015

Surrounded by her loving family, Alberta Kealey, beloved wife of Warren Kealey, longtime resident of Norwalk, Connecticut and member of St. Thomas Parish died February 23, 2015.  She was 93 years old. Born in 1922 and raised in the small town of Waverly, VA, Alberta loved her hometown but knew it wasn’t the place for her to live.  She moved to Richmond after high school to attend secretarial school and then moved to Washington D.C. where she lived for seven years working for the War Department and, later, IBM.  It was in Washington, D.C. at a state dance where she met her future husband, Warren, then a student at Georgetown Law School.
The couple moved to Norwalk where they spent the next 50 years raising a family of four and taking active roles in civic and church affairs. Alberta was President of the St. Thomas Rosary Society, served as a Eucharistic Minister, brought communion to the homebound and volunteered at the soup kitchen. While raising their children, she worked for Smith Klein Inc., Pelletreau & Kealey Law Firm, Brien McMahon High School as a teacher’s aid and Triple S Carpet & Drapery Cleaners.
She sang in church choirs, took courses at Norwalk Community College, reupholstered furniture, made her daughter’s dresses, was a wonderful cook, and accompanied her husband to the opera more times than she could count. She will be remembered most of all just as she would want to be: for her deep love of God and her family.
Alberta is predeceased by her husband, Warren; daughters Suzanne and Judith; and son-in-law, Emmanuel. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth and Bunny; sons Craig and Scott, their wives Diane and Laura; son-in-law Edward; grandchildren, Rachel, Laura, Amanda, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Casey and Jack; and great-grandchildren Kealey and Gavin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenmary Home Missioners, P.O. Box 465618 Cincinnati, OH 45246 (www.glenmary.org).
