Arturo Bedoya, age 75 of Norwalk, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 22 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Margarita Bedoya, loving father of Andres Felipe Bedoya, and adoring grandfather of Andres Felipe Bedoya, Jr., the joy of his life, all of Norwalk. Arturo was born on December 13, 1939 in Antioquia, Abejorral, Colombia, the son of the late Juan Pedro Bedoya and Amelia Rosa Bedoya, and has lived locally for the past 48 years. He was retired from Algonquin Parts Corp. in Norwalk where he had been a machinist. Arturo loved his work and his family. He enjoyed gardening, barbequing, music and reading, walks at the beach, soccer, and really enjoyed telling jokes, bringing smiles and laughter to his friends and family.
In addition to his wife and son, Arturo is survived by his brothers Antonio, Pedro Jose, and Luis; his sisters Julia, Blanca, Consuelo and Margarita, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers Bernardo, Marco Tulio, Gabriel and Juan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, 9:30 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk. Arturo’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Friday (today) from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center (http://www.norwalkhospital.org/foundation/donate/) or to the Chordoma Foundation (http://www.chordomafoundation.org/).
