Daniel J. Godleski, 78, of Norwalk passed away peacefully Tuesday February 7th after a long illness. Dan was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on April 4th 1938 to the late Stanley and Suzanne (Zakiewicz) Godleski.   Predeceased by his son Neil, Dan is survived by his wife Heidi Schreiner Godleski, his daughter Maria Godleski and her wife Nadine, his sister Adele Warren and her three children, his niece Selena Zepf and many loving family members in New Jersey. He leaves behind many truly wonderful friends.
Dan grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and shared memories with his kids of his "adventures" as a young man there.  After graduating from Bloomfield High School, and attending the local community college, he joined the Navy and continued those adventures crossing the world.  He was a ski instructor at Mount Peter in Warwick, NY and later met Heidi at the Norwalk Ski Bears.  They married in August of 1972.  Dan sold life insurance for Knights of Columbus and Prudential before moving on to be self-employed in construction.  He could fix almost anything. His interests were wide: fishing off the pier at Calf Pasture, visiting tag sales, participating in karate with his son at the old Roosevelt School, taking up Brazilian jiu jitsu at 60, cutting down trees well through 72, metal detecting both on his own in the morning long before anyone else gets up and going on hunts with those in the club.  He was always making friends and always wanted to do for others.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Norwalk Hospital who were so caring to Dan.  Hopefully all those great jokes and stories he told will carry us all on.
His family will receive friends on Friday, February 10 from 5-8 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February,11 at 10 am at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St John Cemetery 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk.
