Dennis Charles Matregrano, 62 of Norwalk, Connecticut passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 12, 2015.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann (Kozma) Matregrano, and his three sons, Timothy Dennis Matregrano and future daughter-in-law Kelly Hewitt, Douglas Charles Matregrano, and Steven James Matregrano. He also leaves his brother Vincent (Paula) Matregrano of Branford CT, his sister Lisa Matregrano of Danbury CT, nephews Daniel Mahoney and Vincent (Didi) Matregrano, nieces Melanie Matregrano, Melissa Kozma and Allison Kozma and several grand nieces and nephews. Dennis was born on May 20, 1952 in Norwalk to the late Vincent (Jim) Matregrano and Mary (Honey) Schede Matregrano. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sharon Matregrano. Dennis also leaves his beloved cats, Munchie and Shadow.
Dennis loved to spend time with his sons, coaching them in Ben Whone National Little League and Norwalk Junior Soccer. Dennis also volunteered his time as treasurer and vice president of the Brien McMahon Football Booster Club. He enjoyed playing sports including softball in Norwalk for many years on the team he shared with his brother Vinny named the “Colonials” and later for “T’s Aces”. He was also a bowler on the Rascal’s team in the Strugglers League of Norwalk for many years as well. He had a love for classic cars and attending car shows with his sons and great friends. Over the years, he enjoyed playing his drums, model railroading, and landscaping his yard.
Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. He worked for Stamford Insulation for many years, following that he was a former partner of American Building Components Corp. He has spent the past 17 years with Hocon Gas in Norwalk as a Sales Representative, and had been a member of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Fairfield County.
The family will receive friends at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk on Sunday April 19 from 4pm-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established to assist Dennis’ three sons in continuing their college educations.
