Dorothy Helen (Reed) Getner

     Dorothy Helen Getner, age 92 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Thursday, October 27, 2016.  She was the wife of the late Edward G. Getner.  Born in Norwalk on March 24, 1924, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise Huck Reed.  She was a graduate of Staples High School in Westport and during WW II she worked for Chance Vought Aircraft in Lordship on the Corsair airplane, prior to her marriage.  Dorothy enjoyed gardening and taking care of the family farm and loved to dance.

     Survivors include 2 sons, Don Getner of Norwalk and Gregory Getner of South Lee, MA; 3 grandsons, Jasen Getner, his wife Laurie and children Alexa and Collin, Aaron Getner, his wife Amy and children Austin and Ajay, and Jared Getner and his daughter Anna, and several nieces and nephews.

     Services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 10:30 a.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.  There are no visiting hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to St. Joseph Church, 85 S. Main St., Norwalk, 06854.
