Edward Thomas McGettigan, Jr. of Norwalk, CT passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2016. He was President of American Transit Insurance Company in Brooklyn, New York. Beloved husband of Catherine McGettigan; brother of James (Linda), Susan Carroll (Richard) and Joan McGettigan; son of Lorraine McGettigan, son-in-law of Pam Kress and Donald G. Kress, brother-in-law of Donald B. Kress; and a loving uncle to five nieces and nephews. Edward loved his animals, especially his dog, and was an avid cook, golfer, a James Bond enthusiast, loved to travel and was passionate about helping others.  He was an enthusiastic fan of horse racing and was owner of several standard-bred trotters and pacers.  A graduate of Assumption College, Edward also had a M.B.A in Risk Management from Jones International University. He saved many lives in his early work years as a paramedic. He was a proud recipient of many awards thought his life, among them the Fr. Louis Dion Outstanding Achievement Award from Assumption College, the St. Augustine medal from the Archdiocese in Bridgeport, a New York City Urban Dove Honoree, and the Al’s Angels Arc Angel Award. He was the Faithful Navigator of Assembly 100 of the Knights of Columbus, a past Trustee of the Council 14360 and served the lector ministry at St. Matthews Parish in Norwalk with devotion. Additionally, Edward was an active member of the New York Athletic Club for over forty years.  
 
Friends may call at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave.,Norwalk, CT on Monday, July 11 from 2 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthews R.C. Church, Norwalk, Tuesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Matthew Parrish, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk,CT 06850 in the memory of Edward T. McGettigan, Jr. and/or Al’s Angel’s at www.alsangels.org
