May 29, 1933 ~ February 13, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Eileen (McBennett) Callahan of Milford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 13, 2016.  She was born on May 29, 1933 in the Bronx, New York, and was the daughter of the late Patrick McBennett of County Monaghan, Ireland, and Rose (Haughey) McBennett of Edinburgh, Scotland.

            During high school Eileen’s family moved to Norwalk, where she met her future husband Terrence Callahan.  She married Terrence on February 13, 1954, just weeks after his Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corps.  They later moved to Milford to raise their family.  She was predeceased by her husband on May 28, 1997.

            She is survived by her son Brian and his wife Stacey of Milford and their children Stephen and Laura; daughter Eileen and her husband John Oslund of Rocky Hill and their sons Christian (and his fiancé Lindsay Barrs) and Eric; daughter Patricia and her husband Joseph Jordano of North Haven and her son Daniel Giller (and his fiancé Amy Kallinich); and son Thomas and his wife Kimberly and their daughter Erin of Milford.  She is also survived by her sister Anne Karas of Norwalk and a large extended family including many nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Patrick, John, and Joseph, her sister Mary Furmanek, and her grandson Patrick.

            The family will receive guests at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, on Tuesday, February 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Church, One Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, followed by a burial at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
