Gertrude D. (Park) Chelpaty

     Gertrude D. Chelpaty, age 102 of Norwalk, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  Born in Wells, Vermont on July 28, 1913, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Randall Park and has lived locally for over 20 years.  She was a great mother and a wonderful grandma.  Gertrude was a very hard worker before her retirement and enjoyed reading, working on her computer and most important, travelling.  She thoroughly enjoyed her life.

     Survivors include three daughters, Jane Tremonte of Norwalk, Ruth Szymankiewicz and her husband Walter of West Milford, NJ and Eileen Nelson of Clifton Township, PA, her siblings Jane Beebe, Robert Park and Pat Bishop, daughter-in-law Laurie Wasco, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren 10 gr. gr. grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Gertrude was predeceased by her son Barry Wasco, her daughter Ruth Butler and 14 siblings.

     Gertrude’s family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk from 1-4 PM with a prayer service at 3.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Autism Speaks (https://www.autismspeaks.org/)
