Irene Svidro, age 88, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late John L. Svidro. Irene was born in Norwalk on December 3, 1926, the daughter of the late John P. and Mary Liptak Soltesz. She was retired from Beiersdorf USA where she had been payroll administrator. Irene lived life to the fullest and was very involved with St. Ladislaus Church for many years, whether it was counting the weekly collections to baking Hungarian pastries for bake sales; she was always ready to lend a hand. She was also a member and past president of the Columbiettes and was very devoted to her family. Survivors include two sons, John Svidro and his wife Gail of Fairfield, and Allan Svidro and his companion Hillary Levine of Darien; two daughters, Jane Croswell of Naugatuck, and Jean O’Neil and her husband Jack of Bethel, Grandchildren; Patricia Croswell Gallucci and her husband Theodore Jr. of Watertown, and Sarah Anne Torok of Bethel, a cherished great-granddaughter; Katheryn P. Gallucci, as well as a brother John Soltesz. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Soltes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, March 18, at St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff St., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Irene’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Tuesday from 3-8 PM. (The South Norwalk Columiettes will meet at 5pm) In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Ladislaus Church.
