John Joseph Festa

     John Joseph Festa, Sr., 88 years old, was received by the Lord early Saturday morning, January 24, 2015.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Amelia Festa, three children; Carol Festa of Norwalk, CT, Sal Festa and wife, Linda, of Seymour, CT, John Festa, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of McKinney, TX; and five grandchildren, Sarah Festa, Ashley Festa, Rebecca Festa, John Paul Festa, and Catherine Festa, and a brother, Ralph Festa and his wife Claire.

     John was born October 31, 1926 in Saugatuck, CT.  A WWII Army veteran, he served overseas in Japan (32nd Division, 127th Infantry, 6th Army) from 1944-1946.  Shortly after returning stateside he met Amelia Schettino, they wed on April 30, 1949.  Happily married for 66 years, John’s affection for Amelia was ever present.  He was the greatest of family men, the rock and the patriarch.  Nothing brought him more joy than to be in the company of his family and to brag about his grandchildren.

     John spent his career as an electrician with Pepperidge Farm, enjoyed sports, family gatherings, and a strong cup of coffee with his morning paper.  He was very easy to converse with, had a great sense of humor, and continually helped family and friends in need.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, 9:30 AM at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.  John’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
