Joseph Essenyi, Jr.

     Joseph Essenyi, Jr., age 84 of Norwalk, died suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 18.  Joe was born in Norwalk on August 13, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Kepes Essenyi, and has lived here all of his life.  He was a graduate of Norwalk High School where he was a proud member of the school band. He then served his country during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for many years as a plant manager and chemist for Voltarc Tubes in Fairfield.  Joe was a longtime member of the Calvin Reformed Church (formerly Hungarian reformed Church), a member of the Church Consistory and the youth choir in earlier years.  He loved animals and enjoyed bowling.

     Survivors include his brother, Robert A. Essenyi, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth E. and Donald H. Maurice, all of Norwalk, and many nieces and nephews in Hungary, Slovakia and the US.

     Joe’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.  Burial in the family plot at St. John Cemetery will be private.  Donations in Joe’s name may be made to Calvin Reformed Church, P.O.
