Julius Kucsma, beloved husband of Helen Lipus Kucsma for over 52 years, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 7. He was 90. Julius was born on August 16, 1925 in Szegilong, Hungary, the son of the late Steve and Rose Szabo Kucsma and has lived in Norwalk since 1948. He was a set-up mechanic for Beiersdorf, Inc. for many years and previously had worked for Glenbrook Labs. Julius and Helen were longtime members of St. Ladislaus Church where he was a reader for the Hungarian mass. He was very proud of his Hungarian heritage, enjoyed wine making and gardening and was very handy and creative. He loved people, especially his family, and was loved right back by everyone who knew him.
Survivors also include two children, Julius Kucsma, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Charlotte, NC, Rosemary Field and her husband Brian of Fairfield, four grandchildren, Kyle and Kara Kucsma, Dante and Dylan Field, 3 nieces and one nephew in Hungary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Julius’ family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 5-7 PM.
