Robert T. Birchard

     Robert T. Birchard, age 82 of Rowayton, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.  He was the loving husband of the late Anne Straub Birchard.  Robert was born in Norwalk on September 23, 1933, the son of the late James E. and Alberta Burton Birchard.  He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for many years with Gardella Transportation.  Robert was a member of the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department and loved living in his community by the water.  He also enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family and friends.

     Survivors include his two children; Bruce Dominick (Lisa) of Wilton and Sheila DiCostanzo (John) of Torrington, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his brother Douglas Birchard.

     A memorial service for Robert will be held at the Rowayton United Methodist Church, 5 Pennoyer Street, Rowayton, CT 06853 at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Sept 10.   There are no visiting hours.
