Ruth (Martin) Wood

Ruth Martin Wood, 94, lifelong resident of Norwalk and wife of the late Douglas A. Wood, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side.  Born in Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late George and Marie Martin, she devoted her life to her family, especially her cherished grand and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil.  Ruth worked as a floral designer for Daybreak Nurseries, Village Flower Shop, Norwalk Florist and Richards Flowers among others.

She is survived by her children;  George Wood of Norwalk and  Patricia (Kirk) Ward of Huntsville, AL, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer (Sean) Wilson of N.C., Kristopher and Brandon (Crystal) Ward of AL and 4 great-grandchildren; Jade, Noelle, Brody and Colt. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Navy Pilot George Alan Martin, and an infant son, Douglas.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, May 30 from 5 – 7 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Funeral Services officiated by Rev. John Livingston, will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 10 AM at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
