Sally (Gager) Hartshorne

Sally G. Hartshorne, 86, of Norwalk, died on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Norwalk, the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Forbush) Gager, she was the beloved wife of Gaywood Hartshorne for over 58 years. Sally was a 1947 graduate of Norwalk High School and 1949 from Centenary Junior College. She had worked as the secretary to the president of Norwalk Savings Society until her retirement in 1994. A member of the Norwalk Garden Club and Norwalk Senior Center, she was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church on the Green, serving as Flower chairman, Sunday School teacher and was also a founding member of the womens’ church group, the Beta Circle.

In addition to her loving husband Gaywood, Sally is survived by her son Peter G. Hartshorne, daughter Nancy J. Hartshorne, 2 Brothers-in-law: George H. Howard of Englewood, FL and Whitney Hartshorne of Brandon, VT, a niece Carol, and 3 nephews, Bill, Dave and Jim. She was predeceased by a sister Nancy Gager Howard.

Memorial services will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, July 16, at the First Congregational Church on the Green. Memorial donations may be made to the Beta Circle c/o First Congregational Church, 3 Lewis Street, Norwalk, CT 06851.
