Theresa "Chick" (Tocci) Mendence

     Theresa Ann “Chick” Mendence, age 90 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, August 16.  She was the wife of the late John A. Mendence.  Chick was born in Nowalk on December 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Philip and Rachel Tocci Sciarra.  She attended Norwalk schools and worked for years as a gym teacher for St. Joseph’s School in South Norwalk, where she was also very involved with her church.  She was a former commissioner for the Norwalk Parks and Recreation Department and very much enjoyed her time at Calf Pasture and Shady Beaches.  Chick was devoted to her loving family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.

     Chick is survived by her son Philip J. Mendence and his wife Francine of Norwalk, granddaughters Danielle Mendence, Kasey Mooza and her husband Bill, Kristen Forlini and her husband Sergio, and Caitlin Tiani and her husband Jeff, and great grandchildren S.J. and Lena Forlini and Olivia Mooza.  In addition to her husband and parents, Chick was also predeceased by her sister Lena M. Sciarra.

     A memorial mass will be celebrated for Chick at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk on her birthday, December 28, 2016 at 10 AM.  There are no visiting hours.  Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Susan G.
