Wesley H. Livingston, age 88, affectionately known as “Poppi,” beloved husband of the late Ruth (Galschjodt) Livingston passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his family. Wesley was born in Jamaica, Queens on January 31, 1928, son of the late Schuyler and Anna May (Purgold) Livingston.
Wes was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and he received his B.A. and M.B.A. from Columbia University. Wes was a Church Business Administrator for The Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City, and Executive Director of the Ridgewood YMCA in Queens, NY. While at the YMCA he was Music Director of the Choraliers. He was a faithful member of The United Church of Rowayton, and a devoted member of the church choir for the past 30 years. It brought so much joy to his life to bake for his family, friends, and anyone else blessed to have known him.
Wes is survived by his two sons, Sky Livingston and his fiancé Barbara Kapustynski of New Canaan and Pastor John Livingston and his wife Judi of Norwalk. His legacy lives on through his six grandchildren: Michael, Blair and husband Jason, Kelly and husband Seth, Samantha and husband Julien, Schuyler and wife Jessica, Paden and wife Jessica, and his beloved seven great grandchildren: Blake, Palmer, Lincoln, Luca, Everly, Desmond and Avery. The unconditional love he shared with his family will endure forever.
Calling hours will be on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at The United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Norwalk, CT with Military Honors to follow. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Rowayton.
