Frank J Malaterra Sr., 84 passed away peacefully at Wilton Meadows,on February 19, 2018 after a brief illness. Born September 29, 1933, in South Norwalk, Frank was one of 5 children born to the late Caesar and Elizabeth (Mola) Malaterra. With the exception of a few years in (Chickahominy) Cos Cob, CT, Frank lived most of his life in Norwalk. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School and a veteran of the US Army, during the Korean War. He was a mason/construction worker by trade. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years by several swimming pool companies in the area and was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America, local # 146.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife and the mother of his three sons, Melva Dean (Kerr) Malaterra and a son, Ross. both of his sisters, Nancy and Elisa; and a brother, Louis.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are two sons, Joseph (Sue), Frank J. Jr (Janine) & four daughters, Alisa, Debora (Joe), Wendy (Sly), Aricka; twelve grand and eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Caesar Vincent Jr (Sandra) and a host of relatives and friends.
Frank’s family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 23, from 6-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday at New Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
