John E. Colwell, 92, lifelong resident of Norwalk, died on February 21, 2018 at Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Norwalk, the son of Jessie and Agnes (Sullivan) Colwell, he was the husband of the late Norma (Gover) Colwell. A World War II veteran, John served in the U.S. Army Air Corp., and began his career as a printer, retiring as a mail handler from the US Postal Service in South Norwalk. In his free time he enjoyed stamp collecting and his daily walks.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother William, 2 children, Nancy C. Puelo and James Colwell and grandson Erik. John is survived by his children: Glenn W. Colwell, John R. Colwell, Linda M. Colwell and Eileen M. Post, 10 loving grandchildren and 8 cherished great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to Tina from “Home Instead” as well as the staff of ElderHouse and Notre Dame for their caring support.
