Ruth Frances Rousseau passed away at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Feb 20. She was 95 years old. Ruth was the wife of the late Albert Robert Rousseau. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1922 and was the youngest of the four children of James and Dorothea (Inglis) Bennett. She was a resident of Norwalk for over 90 years. Mrs. Rousseau was a faithful member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church for most of her life and in 1943 was the first to be married in the old church.
Mrs. Rousseau was a loving wife and mother and excellent homemaker who found her true happiness in her cherished family. She had a passion for playing bridge, enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, loved gardening and feeding the birds, and was an avid reader.
Ruth was preceded in death by Al, her beloved husband of 55 years, daughter Paula and grandson Kurt. She is survived by her remaining three children and their spouses: Alan (Pat) of Stillwater, Minnesota; Jeffrey (Ann) of Wilton; Susan Herman (George) of Brookfield; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 26 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave, Norwalk. Interment will follow at Saint John Cemetery in Norwalk. Friends and family may gather at St Thomas Church from 11:30-12:30, before the service.
