Agnes Conover passed away at her home in Norwalk, CT on April 16, 2018, at the age of 92.
Born & raised in Brooklyn, NY, Agnes was proud of her Maltese heritage. Agnes worked in Manhattan before she married her husband Nelson. During their 40 years of marriage, they lived in Brooklyn, Pittsburg, and Baltimore before settling in Norwalk to raise their family.
In addition to her role as a full time mother, she worked as an administrative assistant at the Fine Arts Theaters and Stauffer Chemical.
Agnes was an active volunteer for more than 50 years in the St Jerome Woman’s Guild, the Shawl Ministry Group that provided hand knitted shawls to cancer patents and the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk.
She is survived by her sons Steve his wife Cathy of Norwalk, her son Mike his wife Kay of New Canaan, her son Bob of New York City and her grandchildren Nelson, Anne, John and Kevin Conover. She is predeceased by her husband Nelson, grandson Bobby, sister Mary Cowin & her husband Ken, her sister-in-law Geraldine Munce & her husband Howard, her brother-in law Bob Conover & his wife Rosemary and her sister-in law Lillian McGree & her husband Don.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 20 from 4-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21 at 10 AM, at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
