Angelo Calise, age 78 of Weston, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. He was the loving husband of Carol Goodfellow Calise. Angelo was born on October 15, 1940 in Ischia, Italy, the son of the late Vito and Rosa Castaldi, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1953. He was the hard working and proud owner of Sowesco Distibutors. Angelo was a member of The Sons of Italy and was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Woodward Avenue” in Norwalk by the families who rented his properties there. He was a very devoted family man and especially enjoyed Sunday family dinners. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife Carol, Angelo is survived by his children and spouses: Meg Perez, Salvatore and Sara Calise, Roseann and Joe Caruso, Chris and Jessica Calise, his brothers Luigi and Gioacchino Castaldi of Ischia, Italy, grandchildren Heather, Deanna, Brianne, Gabriella, Lindsay, Nicholas, Joseph and Isabella, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his in-laws Kenneth and Alice Goodfellow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 8, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Angelo’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105 (www.stjude.org).
