Welcome to the memorial page for

Ann (Schenk) Tracey

January 13, 1932 ~ November 9, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Ann S. Tracey, resident of Wilton formerly of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 9th 2017 surrounded by loving family. She was born in New York, NY January 13th, 1932 to the late Carl and Margot Schenk but moved to Westport, CT, graduating from Staples High School in 1950. She grew up spending summers at Longshore where she first developed her love for the water. She met Edward J. Tracey of Norwalk when they were 16, dating until they married on September 7th, 1957. They just recently had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Ann and Ed enjoyed spending their days on their various boats as long-time members of Shore and Country Club.  Ann was the first ever woman to be named Commodore of the Shore and Country Club Marina. When not on a boat, Ann delighted in golfing, playing bridge, and competing with her grandchildren in a mean game of Rummikub. She loved spending time on Block Island where she shared a summer home for over twenty years.

She served on the Norwalk Hospital Board of Directors, was Vice-President then President of the Norwalk Hospital Women’s Board, and served as Chairman of the Treasure House, a thrift shop operated by the Women’s Board to benefit Norwalk Hospital. Ann also was an active member of the New Canaan Suburbanites Club, holding various positions on their board throughout the years.

Ann was happiest spending time with her friends and family. She played a very active role in her grandchildren’s lives, frequently sitting on the sidelines at various sports games or in the audience of dance and music performances. In addition to her husband Dr. Edward Tracey, she is survived by her daughter, Sharon Brameier, and son-in-law, Jeff, of Wilton, CT; her son, Scott Tracey, of Norwalk; her five grandchildren, Devon, Ryan and Jenna Brameier of Wilton and Madeleine and Edward John Tracey II of Newington; her brother, Carl (Kick) Schenk of Naples, FL, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew her.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, November 17th, 2017 from 4-7pm, with a 6:30pm prayer service, officiated by Monsignor Scheyd  at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Burial will be held privately. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital.
