Dominick Surace, age 82 of Norwalk, died peacefully at his home on Monday, November 12. He was the loving husband of Carmela Luppino Surace for 59 years. Dominick was born on March 5, 1936 in Solano Inferiore, Reggio Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Tommaso and Giuseppa Surace. After receiving his associate’s degree from Norwalk Technical College, he worked for many years as a mechanical designer for Nash Engineering. Dominick was a member of the Solano Italian American Club in Mt. Kisco, NY. He enjoyed playing and teaching the accordion, gardening, and loved spending time with his loving family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Joseph Surace and his wife Nancy, Frank Surace and his girlfriend Ashley Erhardt, his brother Santo Surace, sister Santa Carbone and her husband Vincenzo, grandchildren Dominick and Christina Surace, brothers-in-law Rocco Luppino, Vincent Luppino and his wife Maria, Joseph Luppino and his wife Irma, sister-in-law Emily Tomas, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers Alfonso and Giusseppe Surace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 15, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
