Donna Marie LoRusso Sacco, of Norwalk, CT, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2018. She was 84 years old. Born Donata Maria LoRusso on January 2, 1934 in Waterbury, CT, Donna graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing on August 29, 1954 and worked as an RN at St. Francis Hospital. She married John J. Sacco, MD on February 11, 1956 and over the next six years, they had four children.
Donna volunteered with the Red Cross Bloodmobile and the Norwalk Hospital Medical Library for many years. She was a long time member and avid tennis player at Shore & Country Club, where she ran the Junior Sailing Program and served on the Board of Governors. She played golf as a member of the Silvermine Golf Club where she served as Chairperson of the Women’s Handicap Committee for the Nine-Holers.
Donna enjoyed playing bridge, drawing, painting, and printmaking, and her award-winning artwork was shown at the Silvermine Art Guild. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother, and for her intelligence, sharp wit and wry sense of humor.
Donna is survived by her husband John, daughter Cindy Leighton and husband Chris of Fairfield, CT; son Jay Sacco and partner Bridget Lane of Austin TX; Mark Sacco and wife Lisa of Cary, NC; son Greg Sacco of West Haven, CT; Kathryn Jayne of Orange, CT; six grandchildren: Alaria and husband Drew, Meaghan, Julia, Ian, Carly, and Jae; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary LoRusso of Waterbury, CT and her brother James LoRusso and his wife Mary.
To honor her life, family and friends may call at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk, CT, on Friday July 13th from 5-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave, Norwalk, CT, on Saturday July 14th at 9:30AM.
