Doris Kaestner

Doris Gallager Kaestner, 94 of Charlotte, NC died peacefully at home on April 2, 2018.  She was born in Norwalk, CT on August 12, 1923 and was a resident of Norwalk until moving to North Carolina in 2003.

Doris was the wife of Joseph John Kaestner Sr.,  the daughter of Reba S. Gallager, and the sister of Beryl G. Houston who were all born in Norwalk and who all preceded her in death.  She is also predeceased by her youngest son, Joseph John Kaestner Jr. of Charlotte NC. 

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Edward Kaestner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Robert John Kaestner of Charlotte, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kaestner was the granddaughter of Howard E. Smith who composed Love Lifted Me, the beloved hymn that inspired her life.

Her family will receive friends on Monday April 9th from 10-11 AM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, followed immediately by a memorial service.  Interment will be at Christ & Holy Trinity Cemetery, Westport, CT.
