June 17, 1934 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Dorothy Anne Bottone, 83, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018 while surrounded by her family. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life’s work to caring for her family.

Dorothy was the wife of the late Peter Lawrence Bottone, formerly of Norwalk and Weston, CT. She was also the daughter of the late Peter and Amelia Ferrandino, of Norwalk, CT.

Dorothy graduated from The College of New Rochelle with a degree in French and was a member of the New Rochelle Alumni Association in Norwalk. After graduating, she worked at Hanover Bank in New York City for a few years before meeting her husband.

After raising her four children, Dorothy worked at Norwalk Hospital in Accounting for 10 years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, cooking, reading her many novels, and playing the piano. She had a great appreciation for nature and enjoyed going on picnics and taking long rides with her husband, looking for wildlife.

Dorothy is survived by her four children:  Mary Ellyn Lehner and husband Walter H. Lehner of Bethel, CT, Lawrence J. Bottone II and Laura Burke of Palmdale, CA, Katherine Bottone Ruff and her husband Guy Ruff of Clemmons, NC, and Marcia Bottone Sampson of Madison, CT. She is also survived by one brother, Peter Ferrandino of Greentown, PA, seven nieces and nephews, and predeceased by one sister, Rita LaVolsi.

Additionally, Dorothy leaves behind her “special jewels”, her six precious grandchildren: Mrs. Dana Madden and husband Dr. Greg Madden of Charlottesville, Virginia, Brett Lehner of Bethel, CT and Ysabelle Stuard of Washington, CT, Bryan Lehner of Blacksburg, VA, Michael and Mathew Sampson of Madison, CT, and Brandon Ruff of Clemmons, NC.

Dorothy’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.

Dorothy’s family will receive family and friends from 5-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Friday, Jan. 12. A Christian Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10 AM with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
