Frederick "Fred" Caldwell, III Obituary

     Frederick W. Caldwell, III, died peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018.  He was the loving husband of Wendy Lamb Caldwell.  Fred was born in Stamford on October 20, 1941, the son of the late Frederick W. Caldwell, Jr. and the late Marie (Martin) MacDonald.  Fred attended Stamford High School and served in the Navy for four years.  Upon leaving the Navy Fred worked in the vending industry for his entire career.  He was an avid sports fan, but most of all loved the horses.  In his younger years Fred played softball and bowled.  He enjoyed meeting up with his friends for coffee at Darien Donut and time with family and family functions.  He also loved buying and collecting coins.

     Survivors include his wife, Wendy Lamb Caldwell, son Frederick W. Caldwell, IV and his wife Irene, daughter Tracey Ann Hanley and her husband Ronald and grandson Gordon Caldwell.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday, July 26 at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.  Fred’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.  Donations in Fred’s name may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center, c/o Norwalk Hospital Foundation, 30 Stevens St., Norwalk, 06856.
