George "Sonny" Minion Keyes

George Minion “Sonny” Keyes, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the age of 90. He was the loving husband of Barbara Pridgen Keyes.  Born November 1, 1927, in Kershaw County, SC, he was preceded in death by mother Alice Keyes, twin siblings Martha and Mary, and Aunt Pearl James Keys who raised Sonny following the death of his mother. He was a graduate of Norwalk H.S. and then served his country in WW II in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  George received his associates degree in accounting and had worked for NEON, Caldor and later for himself as Keyes Personal Tax Services.  A true gentleman, George was well known and highly respected in the community and will be dearly missed by his family.  In addition to his wife, George is survived by his step-sons Kevin, Jeffrey and Blaine Booker, his loving niece Jamie McClendon Garnett and late nephew Karl McClendon, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

     Funeral Services, officiated by Pastor Charles Brooks, will be held on Friday, March 2, 10AM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.  Burial with full military services will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
