Georgia Kydes Efstathiades, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on January 13 after a brief illness, with her family by her side. She was born October 8, 1930 in Spilia, Kozani, Greece to the late Christ Kydes and Sophia Papadopoulos Kydes. She immigrated to Norwalk in 1947, and later lived in Wilton until 2004 when she moved to Florida and the year round sunshine, warmth and flowers she loved.
Georgia was the wife of the late John Efstathiades for 43 years. She was also predeceased by her brother Andrew Kydes and niece Lisa Kydes.
The Matriarch of the family, Georgia taught everyone the Greek traditions and values. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother, who always put her family first.
Georgia will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sophie Tangard and her husband Richard of Virginia, and her son Larry Efstathiades and his wife Maria of Florida with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her precious grandsons Christopher and Jonathan Tangard of Virginia and John and Anthony Efstathiades of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday January 19, 2018 from 5 to 8pm at Magner Funeral Home with a Trisagion service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 am at St George Greek Orthodox Church, Norwalk with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
