Gerardo Mena Jimenez Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Gerardo Mena Jimenez, on August 22, 2019. He was in his 71st year. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to all whose lives he touched.

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, he learned from his parents and siblings to be proud of his culture, name and family. He was giving, caring and attentive to loved ones.

During his youth he met the love of his life Lastenia Solano Chavez. They proudly profess 46 years of marriage.  His proudest and most loving motivation was his two daughter’s Ivannia Pamela Mena Solano and Zarek Mena Solano.  It was obvious to all knew him that his world revolved around the smiles of his three girls.

He was predeceased by his loving father Heliodoro Mena Castro and mother Delia Jimenez Jimenez and siblings Nieves and Luis, parents-in-law Manuel Solano Castro and Elena Solano Chavez.

He is survived by his caring and exceptional siblings Alicia, Franco, Nena, dear nieces and nephews. They meant the world to him. He will always be described as a family man that adored his parents, siblings and nieces and nephews immensely. He was close with his siblings-in-laws Manuel, Marco Vinicio and Rocio.

He loved telling jokes, making people smile and helping others. He led by example, had a strong sense to do right at all times with his gentle presence. He was a quiet giant in the eyes of many. During the course of his illness, he was always appreciative for all the medical care that he received.

A celebration of Gerardo’s life will be held at Magner Funeral Home on Monday, August 26, 2019, 4-6:00 pm and funeral service Tuesday, August 27, 2019, 10am at St. Joseph Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
