Gertrude Strizver, age 98, died peacefully at the Jewish Home in Fairfield after a long, happy life. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Strizver who passed in 1982. Gertie was born in Brooklyn, NY to Isidore and Anna (Trepper) Zehngut on November 4, 1920. She was always very upbeat, had a great sense of humor, and she adored her family, especially cooking for them. She was adored by everyone who knew her, and will be dearly missed.
Gertie is survived by her loving children Ilene Strizver and Richard Strizver, his wife Meg, grandchildren Erik and his wife Kristin, Jason and his wife Lisa, and Sam, great grandchildren Claire, Emily, Katelyn, Matthew and Alexander, her former daughter-in-law Roslyn, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Gertie was predeceased by her sister Ruth Serwitz.
Graveside services will be held for Gertie at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, NY where she will be buried next to her husband. Donations in Gertie's memory may be made to Hadassah.org.
