Glen R. “Butch” Altpfart, age 62 of Monroe, died peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Sunday, July 23, 2018. He was born in Stamford on November 19, 1955, the son of Ruth (Hielscher) Altpfart of Norwalk and the late Rudolph Altpfart. Glen was a graduate of Brien McMahon High School and UCONN, where earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Specializing in Combustion Engineering, he worked for several companies for the past 40 years.
Glen loved life and put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He was an expert skier, golfer and cook. He enjoyed family skiing vacations in Vermont and cooking and entertaining for friends and family. Glen was also very artistic, enjoying painting and wood carving. He loved animals and gardening and will be dearly missed. In addition to his mother, Butch is survived by his brothers Andrew and Gary, many dear friends. He is also survived by a nephew Dylan Tilow , niece Jessice Tilow and their father Adam, step sons Joey Pagel (Tea ) and children Joey III , Tatiana , and Andrew Pagel (Kelsey ) and several cousins. Butch was predeceased by his sister Carol Altpfart Tilow.
Glen’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Saturday, July 28, from 12 noon to 2:30 PM, with a service to begin at 2:30. Donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society (http://www.donate.cancer.org) or a favorite charity in his name.
