Helen Sandor Obituary

Helen Pearl Sandor, age 91, died on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home in Norwalk. Born in Norwalk, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Varga) Ritzo, she was the wife of the late Stephen Sandor, and was also predeceased by her sisters Rose Ritzo and Jolanda Kovarik. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at MBI until her retirement in 1996. A member of the Columbiettes and St Ann’s Society, she also volunteered at the Norwalk Senior Center, where she very often joined her friends in games of Mah Jongg, Five Crowns, Kings in the corner and Bingo. Helen was very active at St. Ladislaus Church, where she helped at the rectory, sang in the choir and enjoyed participating in the Christmas Fair. A wonderful cook, she would share her talents in preparing pastries or chicken paprikas with her church family as well as with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son and daughter;  Thomas Sandor and his wife Tracy, of Monroe, and Joanne Falcone of Norwalk, 5 loving grandchildren; Kyle, Ryan, Micheala, Michael and his wife Michelle and Candace, and 2 cherished great-grandchildren, Julianna and Kira.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday April 10 from 5-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 AM at St. Ladislaus Church, with burial to follow at St John Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff St., Norwalk, CT 06854.
