James Martin Hewitt (Jim), who led a life of family, faith, and service to others, died on March 11th in Norwalk, Ct. He was 93.
His love of family and service to others extended to all those around him, either participating in his children’s school activities, serving as an usher or a member of the vestry at St. Marks Church where he was a parishioner for over 53 years, or at the yacht club as Commodore or helping build new docks and repairing old ones with the “Dock Knockers”. Jim selflessly gave of himself, helping friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, or simply anyone who needed a little extra help.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Suzanne (Sue), his three children, Jamie (Ralph), of Wilton, CT, Martin (Nancy), of Chappaqua, NY and Bill (Leila) of Wayland, MA, and seven grandchildren, Meredith Walker, Christine Kennedy (Matthew), Steven Walker (Alex), James Hewitt, Jake Walker, Graydon Hewitt and Will Hewitt. Contributions can be made in his name at the St. Marks Church (Mt. Kisco, NY) Endowment Fund, the James M. and Suzanne B Hewitt Scholarship in Engineering at the University of Washington (https://www.washington.edu/giving/make-a-gift/), or the Salvation Army.
