James J. “Jim” McVey, age 88 of Norwalk, died peacefully at Autumn Lake in Norwalk on January 1, 2019. He was the loving husband of Beatrice Jones McVey. Jim was born in Norwalk on March 21, 1930 to the late James J. and Annie (Crain) McVey. He has lived in Norwalk for most of his life and also spend 18 years in Boynton Beach, FL. He retired as a Sargent for the Norwalk Police Department and also owned McVey Security Business. Jim served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and was a former member of the Pastime Athletic Club. He enjoyed softball, was involved in little league baseball and will be dearly missed by his family.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son James McVey (Jennifer) of Thornton, CO, daughter Patricia Perez (Louis) of Southbury and grandchildren Christopher Anastasia, John McVey, Christina Howe and Kelsey Perez, great grandchildren James and Shawn Anastasia and several nieces and nephews. Jim was also predeceased by his son Jack McVey.
Funeral services will be held at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Monday, January 7 at 1 PM, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
