Jo Ann Esposito Karcsmar, age 59 of Bridgeport and former Norwalk resident, died suddenly at St. Vincent’s Medical Center on Monday, December 23. Jo Ann was born in Norwalk on February 23, 1960, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Rose (Boccia) Esposito. She received her Master’s Degree in Teaching from Southern Connecticut State University and had taught special education in Florida and Connecticut. She volunteered at her church and loved spending time with her family. Jo Ann was always very inquisitive, had a great sense of humor and had a bit of thrill seeker in her as well. She will be dearly missed.
Jo Ann is survived by her daughter Monica Bonet and her husband Jason, her son Anthony (A.J.) Karcsmar, her granddaughter Felicity Bonet, her sister Patricia Ann Pocograno, her aunt Maria Cappuccia, nephew Jacob, niece Nicole and grandniece Skyylar, and niece Ariana Laracuente. Jo Ann is also survived by her fiancé David Reyes, whom she planned to wed in 2020.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 205 East Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Jo Ann’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday, January 2, from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org/) or Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org/)
