Growing up, I thought John (called him Mr Skrenski until about age 21) was one of the coolest parents out there. He was always up to date on all of the latest rumors/happenings at Barlow when I was in high school even before I was aware of them! He lived right down the road from me on Deer Hill in Redding and introduced me to TUPAC with a cd he had in his truck when we were working at a job in Westport back in the early 90s which still completely cracks me up this day! Johnny Ski....coined the word 'Zazoo' which I still use to this day and always think of him when using it. The Mets and Knicks were our teams and we went to a few games together over the years. John got me involved in Redding softball back after I graduated high school where I played for a good 12 years and had an absolute blast before leaving town and moving up to New Hampshire for my current job. So glad I was able to reconnect and catch up with John back in October of last year after a number of years. He became one of my good texting buddies right up until the end over the past nine plus months here. And though there may have been a 30+ year age difference between us, I'll miss John just as much as I'd miss one of my very close friends. I only wish I hadn't let all the years pass by before I decided to reach out to him last fall. My deepest condolences to Mary Sue, Karen, Sheri, Lori and the rest of the family.

Our heart broke when we heard the news this morning. John was a wonderful man who we will always remember for his huge smile and generous spirit. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We are so sorry we can not be there for the services. He will never be forgotten and just walking through our house (which he built) will be a constant reminder of his hard work and dedication to his family and friends. Love always, Brian and Trina Muro
