John Ross Silk

     John Ross Silk, age 87 of Norwalk, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 18.  He was the loving husband for 54 years of Janet Monaco Silk.  John was born in Norwalk on January 23, 1930, the son of the late John Francis and Elsie Ross Silk.  He attended local schools and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Bridgeport.  He was an accountant and retired from Pepperidge Farm as director of sales accounting and cash management.  He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  John was also a student in the Lifetime Learning Program at Fairfield University and an avid New York Yankee and Giants fan.

     In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter Lisa M. Silk, son Christopher E. Silk and his wife Michelle, and grandchildren Chris and Michael Silk, all of Fairfield.  Also surviving are brother-in-law Ralph Monaco and his wife Benna of Scottsdale, AZ, sister-in-law Lori Monaco of New Milford and several nieces and nephews.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 23, 11:30 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry St., New Canaan.  Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Wilton.  John’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Monday from 9:30-11 AM before leaving for church.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 5 Brookside Dr. PO Box 5022 Wallingford, CT 06492 (www.heart.org) or the American Diabetes Assoc., 101 Centerpoint Dr, Ste 105, Middletown, CT 06457 (www.diabetes.org).
