Kathy Vingo Obituary

Kathy E. Vingo, 66, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away on September 22, after a brief illness at Danbury Hospital.

Born on June 6, 1953 in Norwalk, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Frank (Pat) and Fran (Romanelli) Crake and the former wife of Jeffrey Vingo. Kathy grew up surrounded by large Polish and Italian families. She was a 1971 graduate of Brien McMahon High School and a 1975 graduate of Western Connecticut State University. Kathy completed a bachelor degree in elementary education, graduating with honors. She loved family, the ocean, and connecting with others. She cherished being a mother, and stayed home to raise her four children.

As a child, Kathy spent many weekends with her family boating throughout Long Island Sound and camping with the Girl Scouts. In high school, she enjoyed playing field hockey and was a cheerleader, which she continued through college. After working various small jobs, she became a stay at home mom, which was her true passion. She could often be found as a parent volunteer at Tracey Elementary School, chaperoning field trips, or helping out with Girl Scouts as the “cookie mom.” She loved hosting holidays and events for friends, family, and neighbors. Those who knew Kathy, knew her to be a loving, generous, and selfless person, who often took the time to send personalized cards and letters. In her spare time, she never missed an episode of Jeopardy!, reading The Hour, or working on a crossword puzzle with her pet cats by her side.

Later, she worked as a pharmacy technician at CVS where she grew to know and enjoy seeing regular customers. She was also hired by the Weston Public Schools, as a teachers aide and substitute coordinator, never straying far from her love of children.

Kathy is survived by her children Rebecca Pavia and her husband Anthony of Norwalk; Tracy Joyce and her husband Anthony of Wilmington, Massachusetts;  Dan Vingo of Brooklyn, New York; and Carrie Vingo of Norwalk. Kathy is also survived by her mother and siblings, Diane Boccuzzi and Bruce Crake of Norwalk, Connecticut.  She was predeceased by her father, Frank (Pat).
