Marijean (Shea) Sommer

Marijean Shea Sommer age 76, of Norwalk, CT passed away Saturday December 15th, 2018. She was a graduate of Mount St. Ursula High School, Bronx, NY and received her BA from Fordham University in New York, NY with a major in speech and a minor in theater. She was an actress that performed in Summer Stock in the early 60’s and then served as the executive producer of the “Wonderama” Show for more than two years under host Sonny Fox at WNEW. In 1972, Marijean moved to Norwalk, CT with her husband to raise their three kids. She was a member of St. Mathews Parish and an avid volunteer who enjoyed helping others, always putting others needs before her own. In 1983 she became a Realtor® who truly loved her job and actively helped numerous satisfied customers find their dream homes. Over the years she’s received accolades and multiple awards for her work and also sat on the Norwalk Board of Realtors. She never lost her love of the arts and was an active member of community theatre in Westchester and Fairfield Counties. Marijean loved spending summers at Calf Pasture Beach with friends and August vacations on Lake Dunmore Vermont with family. She was a charismatic and beloved social butterfly with a long list of amazing friends who knew her door was always open; She was also known for her lively clothing, exotic jewelry and love of wine. She will truly be missed.

Marijean is survived by sisters, Patricia Draddy and Betsy McDermott.; her daughter, Catherine Sommer-Oleszkiewicz (husband Joe); her son J. Peter Sommer (wife Michele); her son Christopher Sommer (wife Jennifer); and her five grandchildren: Emily, Jack, Christen, Jake and Whitney. In addition to her husband James Peter Sommer, she was preceded in death by her parents Parthenia and Vincent Shea, brother Thomas and grandchildren Sam, Max and Ryan.
