May Gogan of Norwalk CT, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Wilton Meadows facility on Friday, January 5. May was born in Queens, NY where she grew up. She was the first woman in her family to attend college and went to Queens College where she majored in Industrial Psychology. She always told stories of how the singer Art Garfunkel would sit in the common area and play music instead of studying. She married Walter “Wally” Gogan in 1961 and moved to Norwalk in 1965. They remained married for 52 years until Walter’s passing in 2013. In the 1970s, after her 3 children were old enough for school, she started work at the new Pathmark Grocery store in what was then the Norwalk Mall. She worked there for many years before getting a job at the Caldor Corporate offices in the 1980’s; working there until the company closed in the 90’s. Her next endeavor took her to News America Corp in Wilton, were she worked until her retirement in 2008. She was a regular card player at the Norwalk Senior Center during her retirement and also attended Norwalk Community College. She is survived by her three children: Timothy Gogan (his wife Josie), Jay Gogan (his wife Delphine and her son (Marco) and Tori Albano (her husband Frank); her sisters: Helen Weber (her husband Tom) and Barbara Mastrantoni; three grandchildren: Caitlyn Albano, Frank Albano, Jr. and Liam Gogan.

In addition she is survived by seven Nieces & Nephews and twelve Great Nieces and Nephews.

May was a long time member of the Women's Republican Committee and a Cub Scout Den Mother & Girl Scout leader in the 1970’s. She was a devoted mother, loving wife and community volunteer. She will be greatly missed. A memorial Service and viewing will be held on Sunday January 14th from 12 to 4pm at Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave in Norwalk. In lieu of flowers the family request a donation be made to Catholic Charities of Fairfield county.
