Michael John Calzone, age 89 of Wilton, died peacefully at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk on Thursday, March 8, 2018. He was the loving husband for 70 years of Jean Salter Calzone. Michael was born in Norwalk on May 25, 1928, the son of the late Frank and Rose Tavella Calzone and has lived in Wilton for the past 58 years. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Class of 1946 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Michael was a retired salesman for Eder Brothers Liquor Distributors and was their Salesman of the Year several times. He was an avid UCONN Husky Women’s Basketball fan, loved cooking and playing cards with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife Michael is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Denise and Edward Scheuy and Lynn and William Selke, sister Grace Smith, brother Rocco Calzone, grandchildren Greg, Matt, Justin, Steven, Jenna, Jason and Jennifer, and many nieces and nephews. Michael was also predeceased by his beloved son Michael James Calzone and his siblings Nettie, Anna, Josephine, Dolly, Helen and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 14, 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk. There are no visiting hours and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, 761 Main Ave., Norwalk, 06850, Brightstar Care, 9 Gale Ct, Bethel, CT 06801 or Notre Dame Convalescent Home, 76 West Rocks Rd., Norwalk, 06851. The family would also like to thank all three organizations for their exceptional care of Michael throughout his illness.
