Nydia Marie (Arena) Bruni

Nydia Marie Bruni, a long time Norwalk resident, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018.  Nydia was born on March 2, 1940 in Westport. She was a principle ballerina at a Westport ballet company and received an offer to dance with George Balanchine’s New York City Ballet. She married the love of her life George Bruni in 1961, established their life in Norwalk, raised three loving sons and were married for fifty-four years.

Nydia was preceded in death by her husband George and is survived by her three sons, Gary (Annette), Brian (Mary) and David, two grandchildren Adrianna and Nico, a great granddaughter Brianna and several close cousins.

Nydia’s service will be held on Friday, May 4 at 10am at St Mathew church located at 216 Scribner Avenue in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery located at 223 Richard Avenue in Norwalk.
