Patrick Joseph Burke

Patrick Joseph Burke, 57, passed away on Thursday January, 4, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital after bravely battling cancer. Pat was a lifelong Norwalk resident, born to parents Edmund and Veronica Burke on March 29, 1960.  He graduated from St. Luke’s School in New Canaan and Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT. 

Throughout his life he worked in several varying careers, most recently with the City of Norwalk Parks and Recreation Department.  He held previous positions as a driver with a local wine distributor and an international courier service.  Pat also spent time in education, teaching physical education and coaching baseball and football at St. Luke’s school.     

Pat led a life that was rich in friendships.  His many friends will remember him as always being willing to lend a helping hand, whether that involved painting a friend’s house, hauling boxes or simply sharing a conversation over a beer.  Pat was a member of the Laurels Athletic Club, where he enjoyed debating friends on baseball, his true passion.            

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Veronica Burke.  Pat is survived by his three siblings, Michael Burke, of Trumbull, his spouse Lynn and their children Justin and Colin.  Edmund Burke, Jr., of Fairfax, VA, his wife Leigh and their children Anna and Tom.  Daniel Burke, of Baton Rouge, LA, his wife Tiffany and their children Ryan and Abigail.

A funeral will be held Monday January 8 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norwalk.  A viewing will be held Sunday January 7 from 4 - 7 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk.  In lieu of flowers, donations to: Norwalk Hospital Foundation, 6 East staff, 34 Maple Street, Norwalk, CT 06856.
