Patrick J. Spero, age 88 of Norwalk, died peacefully at home on Monday, December 10, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Josephine Schiavone Spero for 58 years. Patrick was born in Norwalk on September 24, 1930, the son of the late Anthony and Assunta Spero, and lived locally all his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. A member of the Teamsters Local 191, he worked for H.L. Gault in the 1960s and then with Vallerie Transportation until his retirement in 1993. Patrick enjoyed country music, playing his guitar, and spending time with his loving family.
In addition to his wife, Patrick is survived by his children Anna Marie and Anthony A. Spero, and his brother Lewis J. Spero and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary, Susan, Anna, and brother Tony.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 14, 10 AM at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Patrick’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, on Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 PM. Donations in his name may be made to the American Lung Assoc. (www.lung.org).
