Raymond Lonn Knapp, age 86, died peacefully on June 16, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital with his niece and nephew by his side. Raymond was predeceased by the love of his life, best friend, and wife of 48 years, Josephine R. (Mastellone) Knapp. Born in Norwalk, CT on July 23, 1931, he was the son of Norman and Margaret (Lonn) Knapp. Raymond was a graduate of the Mystic Oral School for the Deaf in Mystic, CT and was retired from Perkin Elmer where he was a Quality Control Inspector for 38 years. He enjoyed traveling the world with Josephine and his friends. He loved the NY Yankees, UConn Huskies Woman's Basketball, skip-bo, bocce, bingo, collecting roosters and piecing together his countless jigsaw puzzles. He was very proud of his many bowling accomplishments while a member of the Perkin Elmer bowling team. Raymond had a very active social life, visiting, traveling with, and participating in activities with his many loving friends.
Predeceased by his sister, Janet DeMeo, survivors include his brother, Norman Knapp, Jr. of Melbourne, Fl., cousins Linnea Greig of Wilton, CT and Greta Acton of Port St. Lucie, FL, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by all of his dear friends.
Raymond's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk on Saturday, June 23rd, from 2-6 PM, with remembrances beginning at 5:30PM.
Burial will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, June 25th at St. John's Cemetery, (funeral procession leaving Magner Funeral Home at 11:15 AM.) In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The American School for the Deaf, 139 N. Main St., W. Hartford, CT 06407.
